Disney’s ‘Moana 2’ Releases Posters and Original Songs for Oscars

by Barbara Miller

Disney’s highly anticipated animated film “Moana 2” has released official posters in various formats, including IMAX, CINITY, Dolby Cinema, Fandango, Real3D, and 4DX, allowing audiences to fully immerse themselves in the new journey with Moana and Maui. In addition, unlike the highly anticipated but delayed “Dune 2,” Disney has submitted two original songs from “Moana 2,” “Beyond” and “Can I Get a Chee Hoo?,” for consideration in the Best Original Song category at the Oscars.

Directed by Dave Derrick, “Moana 2” features the return of Auli’i Cravalho and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson as the voices of Moana and Maui, respectively. The sequel takes place three years after the events of the first film, with Moana now the new leader of her tribe and with a new sister named Simea. When Moana discovers a new map, she sets sail with new allies to uncover the mystery of a cursed island and defeat the new villain, Matangi.

Originally planned as a Disney+ series, “Moana 2” has now been adapted as a feature film. This is not the only new project for the Moana IP, as a live-action version of the film is also currently in production. Johnson, who voices Maui in the animated film, will reprise his role and serve as a producer for the live-action version, while Cravalho will serve as an executive producer.
