Charlie Hunnam will star in the third season of Netflix’s true crime series “Monster” as the infamous serial killer Ed Gein. Gein, from Wisconsin, in the 1950s, was found by authorities to have not only killed multiple people but also engaged in grave robbing, desecrating corpses, and making various household items and clothing from human remains. This case later became the inspiration for several pop culture protagonists, including Norman Bates in “Psycho” and Buffalo Bill in “The Silence of the Lambs.”
The second season of the show, “Monster: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story,” has recently been released. Starring Javier Bardem, Chloë Sevigny, Nicholas Alexander Chavez, and Cooper Koch, it was created by Ryan Murphy and Ian Brennan.
This season revolves around Lyle and Erik Menendez, two brothers. In 1989, their parents were shot dead in their Beverly Hills home. They were not the initial suspects. As the police investigated, the brothers were eventually identified as the killers. Lyle and Erik claimed that they had endured a lifetime of abuse from their parents and committed the murder in self-defense. They were sentenced to life imprisonment without parole.
The first season of the series, “Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story,” was launched last year, focusing on Jeffrey Dahmer, one of the most notorious serial killers, rapists, and cannibals in American history. Known as the “Milwaukee Monster,” he killed 17 men and suffered from mental disorders such as borderline personality disorder but was determined to be sane at the time of the crimes. In the 1990s, Dahmer was sentenced to 16 life imprisonments for multiple murders.
