Jessica Chastain is set to star in the highly anticipated Suspense thriller “Assassination,” directed by Barry Levinson, known for his works such as “Rain Man” and “Dopesick.” Joining Chastain are Brandon Fraser, Bryan Cranston, and Al Pacino.
This film will present a fresh perspective on the assassination of President John F. Kennedy, centering around journalist Dorothy Kilgallen (played by Chastain). As she suspects that Lee Harvey Oswald did not act alone, she uses her fame and influence to uncover the true culprit behind the president’s murder. The movie is both a murder mystery and a film noir. Kilgallen’s journey pits her against the CIA, mafia bosses, and the FBI, who all want nothing more than to make her and this story disappear.
Levinson describes, “Dorothy Kilgallen was the first female crime reporter in America. She was the only woman to cover the Kennedy assassination. She was also the only journalist to talk to Jack Ruby. Through secret channels within the Warren Commission, she began piecing together clues that no one else had. Her cause of death is highly suspicious but has never been investigated.”
Producer Sosnoff remarks, “We love exploring this topic through Dorothy’s perspective. Her relentless and courageous pursuit of the truth makes this movie not only about her story but also about what really happened in Dallas that day. It’s exciting to see Jessica, Brandon, and Bryan join Al Pacino in bringing Barry’s vision to life.”
The film “Assassination” is set to begin shooting in Boston in early 2025. This project holds great promise as it delves into one of the most significant events in American history from a unique angle, with a stellar cast and a renowned director at the helm. It will surely attract the attention of audiences worldwide who are intrigued by the mystery surrounding the Kennedy assassination and eager to see how this new take unfolds.
