Star Wars & Taylor Swift’s Surprising Crossover

by Barbara Miller

A clever fan has merged the worlds of Taylor Swift and Star Wars in a hilarious and unexpected way, altering the Wookieepedia page for the character Abeloth by incorporating song lyrics from Swift’s Midnights album. The page, a fan-edited section of the online Star Wars encyclopedia, now includes section titles that humorously reference Swift’s songs, cleverly tying her lyrics to one of the franchise’s most powerful villains.

The connection is more than just a joke—it’s a witty nod to a striking similarity between Abeloth’s character and Swift’s fanbase’s affection for their idol. In Star Wars lore, Abeloth is a once-mortal character who, driven by a desire to stay with her family, transforms into a terrifying, godlike entity. In much the same way, Taylor Swift is affectionately called “Mother” by her devoted fans, or “Swifties,” a term that shares a direct link to Abeloth’s title as “The Mother” within Star Wars.

This clever editing of the Wookieepedia page highlights just how well Swift’s music and Abeloth’s tragic, multi-layered character overlap. One of the key Midnights songs, “Anti-Hero,” has been particularly referenced, with titles such as “Enter the Anti-Hero,” “Monster on a Hill,” and “Covert Narcissism” evoking themes of Abeloth’s complex nature and the themes of self-doubt and introspection in Swift’s lyrics.

Some section titles serve as humorous puns, such as “Foe on the Beach,” a twist on Swift’s Midnights song “Snow on the Beach,” and “Lavender Face,” a playful alteration of “Lavender Haze.” A particularly amusing title, “Someone Sweet and Kind and Fun?” humorously questions whether Abeloth, a villain characterized by malevolent power, could ever be described with such traits. This witty exchange showcases the charm of the joke while highlighting Abeloth’s dark transformation.

While the playful mash-up of Star Wars and Taylor Swift may seem like a light-hearted joke, it carries significant implications for the Star Wars universe. With the growing prominence of the Mortis Gods in recent Star Wars shows, especially in the season finale of Ahsoka, Abeloth’s importance in the Star Wars franchise may soon be explored on-screen. The connection between Ahsoka Tano, the Daughter of the Mortis Gods, and the Mortis storyline could pave the way for Abeloth’s return in future Star Wars projects, perhaps as early as Ahsoka Season 2.

Though the Wookieepedia changes were made in jest, they reflect the potential for Abeloth to play a significant role in upcoming Star Wars storylines. Fans will be eager to see how this iconic character, whose online Easter egg has now caught the attention of both Star Wars and Taylor Swift fans, might weave into the galaxy’s expansive future.
