Ridley Scott shares his thoughts on the upcoming Alien: Earth TV show.
His endorsement bodes well for the series.
The Alien franchise, which began with Ridley Scott’s 1979 film, is getting its first TV show, Alien: Earth, developed by Noah Hawley. Set 30 years before the original film and overlapping with Prometheus, it has a cast including Timothy Olyphant and others.
Scott, initially annoyed by others replicating his work, now embraces the idea of the TV show. He says Hawley “respected the original Alien,” and he’s excited to watch it. His comments, along with his executive producer credit, suggest he’s fully on board.
This means Alien: Earth will likely feature Xenomorphs and explore Weyland-Yutani’s competitors. Setting the show on Earth and looking at different companies will distinguish it from other franchise entries.
With Hawley’s track record and Scott’s endorsement, anticipation for Alien: Earth is high. There’s good reason to believe it’ll be a success for FX.
