Sonic the Hedgehog 3 director Jeff Fowler has detailed how the film will honor Shadow’s game story. After his introduction in Sonic the Hedgehog 2, and with Keanu Reeves voicing him in the upcoming movie, Fowler addressed using source material for an authentic franchise experience.
He emphasized respecting what fans love about Shadow, handling his associations like guns and motorcycles appropriately for a family film. The movie seems set to depict his relationship with Maria and aspects of his backstory, though some elements may be tweaked from the games.
While his motorcycle and connection to Maria are confirmed, gun use isn’t yet. Despite potential remixing, the film aims to maintain loyalty to the themes of his backstory, leaving much to be revealed when it hits theaters.
