The 2000s saw many successful comedies and the rise of cult classic franchises. Super Troopers, first released in 2001, was one such cult favorite. Its 2018 sequel had mixed reviews but the franchise still has a strong following.
Co-creator and director Jay Chandrasekhar reveals that the troupe is in final discussions with Disney about making Super Troopers 3. After Disney’s acquisition of Fox, it now owns the rights.
Fans will be excited, hoping for a shorter gap between sequels this time. The “final discussion” mention suggests a deal could be close, and a third movie might arrive in 2026 or 2027.
