Lindsay Lohan has revealed exciting news about Freaky Friday 2, slated for release in 2025. The sequel will not only bring back Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis as Anna and Tess but also feature a reunion of the original film’s punk rock band, Pink Slip. Joining the returning cast will be Mark Harmon and Chad Michael Murray, alongside new faces Julia Butters and Manny Jacinto.
Appearing on The Tonight Show, Lohan confirmed that Pink Slip, the band Anna was part of in the first movie, will make a comeback. In the original Freaky Friday, Pink Slip played a significant role in Anna’s journey of switching bodies with her mom, despite Tess’s initial disapproval of the band.
What Pink Slip’s Reunion Means for Freaky Friday 2
Despite the exciting return of Pink Slip, it remains unclear how the band will fit into the sequel’s storyline. In the first movie, Tess came to appreciate Anna’s musical aspirations after experiencing life in her daughter’s shoes. However, with more than 20 years passing since the original film, it’s uncertain whether Pink Slip ever found success. The only image from the sequel so far shows Anna and Tess screaming, hinting that Anna may have taken on some of her mother’s habits and even started a family of her own. This could suggest that Anna’s musical ambitions have faded, leaving Pink Slip possibly disbanded by the start of the sequel.
The Band’s Potential Role in the Sequel
Pink Slip was central to Anna’s character development in the original film, as her passion for music directly clashed with Tess’s expectations. The band’s return in Freaky Friday 2 makes sense with both Lohan and Curtis reprising their roles. However, early reports suggest that the band might not have achieved their dreams. It’s possible that the sequel’s body-swapping twist could offer Anna a chance to rediscover her love for music and revitalize her musical career. Fans will have to wait until 2025 to find out.
