A24 Drops New Trailer for Luca Guadagnino’s Queer

by Barbara

On Monday, A24 released a gripping new trailer for Queer, the highly anticipated film from acclaimed director Luca Guadagnino. Starring Daniel Craig and Drew Starkey, the movie delves into a drug-fueled romance set in 1950s Mexico City.

Queer centers on William Lee (Craig), an American expatriate living in Mexico City, who leads a solitary existence. His world is turned upside down when he crosses paths with Eugene Allerton (Starkey), a much younger former soldier newly arrived in the city. The connection that forms between them marks Lee’s first intimate bond with another person.

The film is based on William S. Burroughs’ 1985 novella of the same name, with a screenplay adapted by Justin Kuritzkes. In addition to Craig and Starkey, the ensemble cast includes Lesley Manville, Jason Schwartzman, Henry Zaga, and Omar Apollo.

Queer marks Guadagnino’s second release of 2024, following his queer tennis drama Challengers. The film had its world premiere at the Venice International Film Festival in September and is set to hit Australian theaters in early 2025.
