Disney’s highly anticipated live-action version of “Lilo & Stitch” has just released a brand-new poster. On it, the adorable “blue puppy” Stitch is seen with a coconut critter in its mouth, looking absolutely charming as it shows off its cute side.
The movie is being directed by Dean Fleischer-Camp, the talented director behind the popular animated film “Marcel the Shell with Shoes On”. There’s some exciting casting news too. Chris Sanders, who lent his voice to Stitch in the original animated version, is expected to return. Maya Kealoha, a rising star from Hawaii, will take on the role of the little girl Lilo. And Zach Galifianakis will be providing the voice for Jumba Jookiba.
The Story of the Original Animated Series
The “Lilo & Stitch” we know and love first started as a TV animated series. Directed by Chris Sanders, it consisted of 65 episodes and premiered in the United States on September 20, 2003. The story is set on Earth, where 5-year-old Lilo has always dreamed of having a pet dog. When she finally gets one, she’s in for a big surprise. Her new pet, Stitch, isn’t a regular dog at all but a dangerous alien from outer space. Stitch has six legs and managed to sneak onto Earth while in exile.
As time passes, through their daily interactions, Stitch and Lilo develop a deep and meaningful bond. But then trouble strikes. The aliens who are after Stitch figure out that he’s hiding on Earth. To force him to surrender, they kidnap Lilo. Determined to save his good friend, Stitch decides to fight back with all his might.
The Release of the Live-Action Film
Fans of the original series can mark their calendars as the live-action “Lilo & Stitch” is set to hit theaters in North America on May 23, 2025. It’s sure to bring back all the heartwarming and exciting moments of the beloved story, now in a whole new live-action format that audiences are eagerly looking forward to.
