The memorable Barry Keoghan in Saltburn may soon be cut into a mop head! After months of speculation, the as-yet-untitled Beatles biopic directed by Sam Mendes has officially been cast as drummer Ringo Starr. Ringo himself confirmed the news to Entertainment Tonight, saying, “I think it’s great. I’m sure he’s learning to play the drums somewhere, but I hope not too much.”
Sam Mendes is planning to direct four biopics, each featuring one of the band’s members and telling the storied band’s story from their own perspective. Casting rumors for the film have been circulating since February. Although unconfirmed, there are reports that Harris Dickinson, Paul Mezcal, and Joseph Quinn have been nominated.
No matter how much debate there is about Barry Keoghan winning the casting, it’s clear that his star is on the rise. In addition to his current work on the Netflix film Peaky Blinders, he is also working on Crime 101 with Chris Hemsworth and Mark Ruffalo.
