‘The Young Lady and the Watchdog’ Adds Kaito as Emotional Catalyst

by Barbara Miller

The live-action adaptation of the manga “The Young Lady and the Watchdog”  has officially announced the addition of Sakurai Kaito. He will play Tanigawa Mikio, the grandson of the leader of the Tanigawa group, a subgroup of the Senagaki group. Mikio briefly transfers to the high school where Ichisaki and Keiya are. Keenly sensing the ambiguous relationship between Ichisaki and Keiya, Mikio, who attempts to disrupt their relationship, indirectly becomes the “catalyst” for the development of their feelings.

In the poster, Sakurai Kaito stands expressionless with yellow hair, exuding a “bad guy” vibe different from Keiya’s. Behind him are the beautiful yet poisonous sea anemones, with the caption: “Maybe I’ve found a good way to kill time.”, hinting that he will bring big trouble.

The story follows Senagaki Ichisaki (played by Fukumoto Riko), who starts living with her grandfather, the leader of the Senagaki group, after her parents die in an accident. Her grandfather entrusts her to Uto Keiya (played by Jesse), the young master of the yakuza organization. During her growth, Ichisaki secretly falls in love with Keiya.
