The Star Wars movie “The Mandalorian and Grogu”, announced in January 2024 as a continuation of the TV show’s story, has completed filming. Details about its cast remain somewhat under wraps. Lucasfilm’s Chief Creative Officer Dave Filoni confirmed this at the premiere of “Skeleton Crew”.
Filoni also teased aspects of Grogu’s future, highlighting the character’s evolution and noting that he’s “become such a star”.
What this means for Star Wars is that after years of scrapped movie projects, the wait for a new big-screen Star Wars offering is nearly over. “The Mandalorian and Grogu” is now moving closer to its debut.
Grogu’s future is that it seems set to be significant. As he trains under Din Djarin, blending his Force powers with Mandalorian skills, he could become a formidable warrior. A Mandalorian prophecy involving a Mythosaur adds to the intrigue, and given Grogu’s ability to connect with creatures, he might even tame the Mythosaur and prove his worth. The movie is set to hit theaters on May 22, 2026.
