Sebastian Maniscalco, who voiced Foreman Spike in The Super Mario Bros. Movie, has expressed uncertainty about returning for the sequel, slated for release in April 2026. Despite the film’s mixed reviews, it set box office records, but Maniscalco revealed in a recent interview that his lack of merchandise at Universal Studios left him questioning whether he’d reprise his role.
Though the actor’s return is not confirmed, there is still potential for him to come back. With over a year until the sequel’s release, the studio has time to discuss terms. Given that his role in the first film was relatively small, his voice could still be required later in production. As of now, no cast members have been officially announced, and while the first movie’s conclusion may suggest a diminished role for Spike, there are ways the character could be reintroduced, especially if the sequel continues to explore connections to Brooklyn.
