Sony Pictures has unveiled the first poster for 28 Years Later, the highly anticipated sequel to 28 Days Later (2002) and 28 Weeks Later (2007). The poster features a striking red biological hazard symbol composed of skulls, paired with the ominous tagline: “Time Didn’t Heal Anything.”
Set to return for the next chapter in the franchise are Cillian Murphy, director Danny Boyle, and screenwriter Alex Garland, alongside new additions Ralph Fiennes, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, and Jodie Comer. The tagline suggests the Rage Virus continues to wreak havoc, with the world in an even more perilous state.
While Murphy’s name is prominently featured on the poster, its absence from the promotional copy hints at a potentially smaller role for the actor, possibly a cameo, with other characters taking center stage. 28 Years Later will be the first installment in a new trilogy, with the second film already confirmed to have a director in place.
Fans of the franchise may feel disappointed by Murphy’s potentially reduced screen time, especially following his Oscar win, but the strong supporting cast offers hope for the film’s success. Set to hit theaters in June 2025, the release of the poster signals that a trailer may be on the horizon, offering further insight into the film’s plot and Murphy’s involvement.
