Ted Danson’s Netflix sitcom has received the green light for a second season, along with a confirmed release window. Danson is widely recognized for his role as Sam Malone in the iconic sitcom “Cheers”, which ran for 11 seasons from 1982 to 1993. Post-“Cheers”, he took on diverse roles, such as billionaire Arthur Frobisher in “Damages”, a fictionalized version of himself in “Curb Your Enthusiasm”, and the lead in the CBS sitcom “Becker”.
He gained even more acclaim for his leading role as Michael in Michael Schur’s popular NBC sitcom “The Good Place”, which aired from 2016 to 2020. His performance led to multiple Emmy Award nominations for Outstanding Leading Actor in a Comedy Series. After “The Good Place” ended, Danson starred in the NBC sitcom “Mr. Mayor”, which was canceled after just one season.
Now, Danson’s “A Man On The Inside” has been renewed. In this series, Danson’s character, Charles, goes undercover at a retirement community to look into a case involving missing jewelry. The show has been a critical hit on the streaming platform, boasting an impressive 95% Tomatometer score and 91% Popcornmeter score on Rotten Tomatoes. It has also reunited Danson with Schur and features several actors from “The Good Place”, including Marc Evan Jackson, Eugene Cordero, and D’Arcy Carden.
Netflix announced on X (formerly Twitter) that “A Man On The Inside” has been renewed for season 2 and will return in 2025. Since its debut on the streaming platform, the series has been in Netflix’s Global Top 10 for three consecutive weeks. The renewal announcement was styled after a season 1 image of Charles looking through a cut-out section of a newspaper.
The season 2 renewal of “A Man On The Inside” is a welcome development. While the season 1 ending was satisfying, it also left room for more storylines as Charles was assigned a new case. The series not only incorporated the humor and themes from “The Good Place” but also filled a gap in Netflix’s offerings regarding shows centered on older adults since “Grace and Frankie” concluded. Given its strengths, remaining narrative possibilities, positive reception, and high viewership, it’s great that the show will continue. And with a 2025 release window, fans won’t have to wait too long for the next installment.
