A24 has dropped the first trailer for the horror comedy “Death of a Unicorn”, which takes a unique spin on the traditional image of the mythical unicorn. The movie was both written and directed by Alex Shaffman and features an ensemble cast including Paul Rudd, Jenna Ortega, Richard E. Grant, Will Poulter, and Anthony Carrigan, among others.
The trailer unfolds a rather unusual plot. It shows Elliot (played by Paul Rudd) and his daughter Ridley (Jenna Ortega) getting involved in a hit-and-run accident on their way to the vacation estate of Elliot’s boss, Leopold, a pharmaceutical magnate portrayed by Richard E. Grant. In this accident, they end up killing a unicorn. What follows is their attempt to cover up this incident. However, things take a wild turn when Leopold discovers that the unicorn holds magical benefits. The scientists at the pharmaceutical company even find out that unicorn blood and dandruff have the potential to cure cancer, which makes the boss’s family eye the unicorn in a whole new light.
But their actions don’t go unnoticed. The “parents” of the slain unicorn suddenly show up at the resort, seeking revenge. They then launch a fierce hunt for the group, setting the stage for what seems to be a chaotic and thrilling sequence of events.
Fans of the genre and those eager to see this unique take on a fantastical creature can look forward to the release of “Death of a Unicorn” in North America in spring 2025. With its blend of horror and comedy elements and an interesting premise, it has the potential to be a standout movie when it hits the screens.
