The Night Agent’ Season 2 Trailer: CIA Mole Puts Peter in Danger

by Barbara Miller

The highly anticipated trailer for The Night Agent season 2 has been released. In season 1 of the Netflix thriller series, FBI agent Peter Sutherland (Gabriel Basso) found himself thrust into a mysterious conspiracy when his night shift manning a cryptic phone line led to a wild adventure. The first season became the platform’s seventh most-watched English-language TV season ever, ranking just below big hits like Stranger Things, Wednesday, Bridgerton, and The Queen’s Gambit. Now, season 2 will see Peter take on a new escapade as a full-fledged Night Action agent.

Netflix’s newly unveiled trailer for season 2 kicks off with Peter reporting that an operation was compromised since enemies were aware of Night Action’s extraction points. Subsequently, he goes AWOL, which raises suspicions among his superiors when they uncover strong evidence of a mole within the CIA. While on the run, Peter is left uncertain about whom he can trust, even among his closest allies. To make matters worse, the theft of “enough experimental weapons to wipe out Manhattan” heightens the stakes to a whole new level.

What this means for The Night Agent season 2 is that it’s shaping up to be Peter’s most challenging adventure yet. After demonstrating his skills in the first season, he now has even more to prove as the mole’s sights are set on him, endangering him from all sides and forcing him into hiding. This already creates a sense of urgency with a ticking clock, as he can’t stay hidden indefinitely, and the threat of the dangerous weapons makes his mission in season 2 all the more critical.

The trailer also provides a look at the season 2 cast, which combines both familiar and new faces. Despite several cast departures before the new season, the returning actors include Luciane Buchanan as Rose Larkin, Fola Evans-Akingbola as Chelsea Arrington, Sarah Desjardins as Maddie Redfield, Enrique Murciano as Ben Almora, and Hong Chau as Diane Farr. Newcomers joining the main cast are Amanda Warren, Berto Colon, Louis Herthum, Arienne Mandi, Michael Malarkey, and Keon Alexander.

The Night Agent season 2 trailer appears to be a suspect. The identity of the mole is likely to be a central mystery that drives the story forward. Since Peter himself is unsure who he can trust, viewers can expect a journey filled with numerous twists and turns, involving double agents, hidden secrets, and more. It’s entirely plausible that the mole could turn out to be one of the show’s well-known returning characters, which would be a shocking revelation for both Peter and the audience.
