The cast of “The Bear” is a diverse and talented group, and it’s no wonder the hit FX series has garnered numerous acting awards. Liza Colón-Zayas won for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series, Jon Bernthal for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Comedy Series, Jamie Lee Curtis for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Comedy Series, and Ayo Edebiri for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series, among others.
At the core of “The Bear” is Jeremy Allen White, who has received Emmy recognition for his outstanding work on the series. While his role as Carmy has propelled his career forward, he was first known for playing Lip Gallagher in “Shameless”. Now, White is landing more significant roles, including playing music icon Bruce Springsteen in an upcoming biopic. One of his films, which was well-received when it came out in 2023, is currently enjoying success on streaming.
“The Iron Claw” has emerged as a streaming hit. This A24 sports drama focuses on the Von Erich family, a group of brothers who made a mark in professional wrestling during the 1980s. White portrays Kerry Von Erich in the film, which also features Zac Efron, Harris Dickinson, Maura Tierney, and Holt McCallany in its cast. “The Iron Claw” received glowing reviews upon its release, achieving a Certified Fresh 89% rating on Rotten Tomatoes and an even more impressive 94% on the Popcornmeter among audiences. To date, it’s the second-highest-rated film in White’s career.
Over a year after its initial release, “The Iron Claw” is experiencing a resurgence on streaming platforms. The A24 biopic has appeared multiple times on Max’s top 10 chart this week. As of now, the wrestling drama occupies the no. 7 spot, having climbed from its no. 8 position on December 31.
“The Iron Claw’s” streaming success demonstrates the continued support from its audience. While White and Efron are the film’s biggest stars, part of its recent success might be linked to Harris Dickinson’s supporting role. Currently, Dickinson is getting noticed for his work in the movie “Babygirl”, which is in theaters. Viewers who have just seen him in that movie might be more inclined to check out his other projects, thus giving “The Iron Claw” a boost during this period.
