The Federal Ministry of Solid Minerals Development is set to launch a new television drama series titled Hidden Riches on January 25. The series, aimed at showcasing the complexities and untapped potential of Nigeria’s mining sector, is expected to serve as a key tool in driving economic transformation.
Dr. Dele Alake, the Minister of Solid Minerals Development, made the announcement in a statement issued by his Senior Special Assistant on Media, Segun Tomori, on Tuesday in Abuja.
The Hidden Riches series is designed to portray Nigeria’s mining industry as a critical element in the country’s economic growth, offering a fresh perspective on its role in driving national transformation. The Minister emphasized that the drama’s powerful narrative will spotlight the transformative potential of solid minerals, portraying them as vital alternatives for sustainable economic growth and resource management.
Aligned with the vision of diversifying Nigeria’s economy, the project supports President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which aims to promote economic diversification across key sectors, including mining.
In addition to showcasing the sector’s economic importance, Hidden Riches will serve to raise awareness about the abundant opportunities within the solid minerals industry. The series encourages citizens to recognize the sector’s potential and actively engage in efforts to build a sustainable future for Nigeria.
The drama, which features a stellar cast including Sydney Diala, Lara Owoeye-Wise, Iveren Antiev, and Alex Jibrin, is set against the backdrop of Nigeria’s vast mineral wealth. It unravels the intricate dynamics of politics, power, and ambition surrounding the nation’s mining resources, depicting the complex interactions between miners, politicians, activists, and ordinary citizens.
Produced by Take 7 Media and directed by Bem Pever and Nwamaka Chikezie, the series will air every Saturday at 8:05 p.m. from January 25 on the Nigerian Television Authority’s (NTA) network service. The show is expected to capture the audience’s attention with its engaging storyline and its focus on the opportunities and challenges within Nigeria’s mining sector.
