In less than three weeks since its release, Squid Game Season 2 has skyrocketed to become Netflix’s third most-watched season of television, amassing 152.5 million views. The latest seven-episode installment of the global phenomenon garnered 26.3 million views between January 6 and 12 alone, securing its position as the most-viewed title of the week.
Currently trailing only the original Squid Game season and Wednesday, Season 2 has quickly cemented its place among the streaming platform’s all-time viewership giants. However, it still has ample time to potentially surpass both of these titles, with 72 days remaining in Netflix’s 91-day premiere window, a critical timeframe used to measure the success of a new release.
While Squid Game Season 2 has dominated headlines, other content on the platform is also making waves. The Christmas-themed thriller Carry-On continued its strong performance, drawing an additional 7.2 million views, maintaining its position at number five on Netflix’s English-language film rankings. With 59 days remaining in its premiere window, the film is poised to surpass Bird Box and The Adam Project, both of which currently hold spots higher on the most popular list.
On the English TV front, Missing You claimed the top spot for the week with 15.2 million views, followed by American Primeval, which debuted in second place with 10.4 million.
Netflix’s debut of WWE’s Monday Night Raw also made an impact, drawing 5.9 million views in its first week. While this figure topped the fourth spot on the English TV list, it’s important to note that direct comparisons with viewership data from the event’s original home on USA Network or Nielsen are challenging. With no publicly available data from Nielsen for the streaming release, week-over-week tracking will be key to gauging its long-term success on the platform.
On the film side, Tyler Perry’s The Six Triple Eight marked a significant milestone, surpassing 69 million views after four weeks of streaming. This makes it Perry’s most-watched Netflix film to date, following a steady growth trajectory since its premiere.
