Good Deed Entertainment has released the romantic drama Three Birthdays, hited theaters on January 24, with a digital release scheduled for February 18. The film stars Josh Radnor, best known for his role as Ted Mosby on How I Met Your Mother, as Rob.
The story unfolds in 1970, following a middle-class family—parents and their 17-year-old daughter—as they each grapple with personal freedom versus the safety of their domestic lives. The official synopsis highlights the complex web of secrets and lies that forms as the family members struggle with the lure of sexual and personal liberation.
The trailer introduces the family dynamic, focusing on the daughter’s challenging relationship with her parents, who are navigating an open relationship. As she explores her own sexual freedom, tensions rise within the family unit. Alongside Radnor, the cast features Annie Parisse, Nuala Cleary, Jasmine Batchelor, Uly Schlesinger, and Gus Birney.
Three Birthdays is written and directed by Jane Weinstock, who co-wrote the story with Nevin Schreiner. The film is produced by Andrea Miller, Chris Collins, and James Welling, with Allan Jones serving as an executive producer. The creative team includes cinematographer Wolfgang Held, editor Keith Reamer, and composer David Lang.
Radnor, who rose to fame as Ted Mosby in How I Met Your Mother (2005-2014), most recently appeared in 2023’s Social Animals and the upcoming 2024 dramedy All Happy Families, which also features Michael Shannon as an executive producer.
With its emotionally charged premise and strong performances, Three Birthdays promises to be a thought-provoking exploration of personal freedom and family dynamics.
