by Barbara

As anticipation builds for HBO’s highly awaited Harry Potter TV series, Warner Horizon is ensuring fans’ cravings are satisfied with the second season of Harry Potter: Wizards of Baking. Premiering on Food Network, the show’s latest installment will bring new magical culinary challenges, continuing the success of its debut season.

Hosted by Harry Potter actors James and Oliver Phelps—best known for portraying Fred and George Weasley—the show will be produced at Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden in the U.K., where both the Harry Potter films and the live-action TV adaptation will be filmed. In this unique baking competition, pastry chefs and cake artists are tasked with creating intricate, spellbinding edible masterpieces inspired by the Wizarding World, all while competing for the coveted Wizards of Baking Cup.

The first season, which aired in late 2024, featured notable appearances from Harry Potter stars such as Warwick Davis (Professor Flitwick), Evanna Lynch (Luna Lovegood), and Bonnie Wright (Ginny Weasley). Alongside culinary judges Carla Hall and Jozef Youssef, the cast helped determine the winners while also delighting fans with iconic Harry Potter locations and sets, including Platform 9¾, Gringotts Wizarding Bank, Diagon Alley, and the Forbidden Forest. The show captured the essence of Hogwarts, bringing it to life in the kitchen.

“We’re thrilled with the response to the first season and can’t wait to bring fans another round of enchanting, magical cakes,” said Betsy Ayala, head of food content at Warner Bros. Discovery. “The crossover appeal between Harry Potter and the Food Network’s audience is undeniable, and we look forward to delivering even more visual and culinary wizardry in season two.”

The premiere of the first season on November 14 made a significant splash in Food Network’s holiday lineup, quickly becoming the highest-rated freshman series of the year. Its two-hour premiere drew over 5.2 million viewers across both linear TV and streaming services, while the six-episode season accumulated more than 16.4 million viewers by its conclusion in December 2024.

In parallel, HBO is working on the live-action Harry Potter series, produced by Warner Bros. Television. The adaptation, which is set to begin production this summer at Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden, will be led by showrunner Francesca Gardiner (Succession) and executive producer Mark Mylod (Game of Thrones, The Last of Us). This faithful series adaptation of J.K. Rowling’s seven-book saga aims to captivate both long-time fans and a new generation of viewers. Each season will explore the magical world in detail, ensuring the original Harry Potter films remain cherished staples while introducing the stories to audiences globally.

HBO’s live-action series is expected to span at least seven seasons, offering a new cast to lead this fresh wave of fandom. The continued expansion of the Harry Potter universe, both on the small screen and in the culinary world, ensures the legacy of the Wizarding World will remain as magical as ever.
