Luca Guadagnino’s highly anticipated psychological thriller After The Hunt, starring Julia Roberts, Ayo Edebiri, and Andrew Garfield, has confirmed its release date, offering a tantalizing glimpse into a gripping narrative of secrets and accusations.
The film will debut in limited theaters across the United States on October 10, with a wider release scheduled for October 17. The release date for the UK remains to be confirmed.
In After The Hunt, Roberts plays a college professor who finds herself at a professional and personal crossroads when one of her star pupils, portrayed by Edebiri, accuses a colleague (Garfield) of wrongdoing. As the professor grapples with the ramifications of the accusation, a dark secret from her past threatens to surface, adding an intense layer of complexity to the story.
The film also features Michael Stuhlbarg and Chloë Sevigny, both of whom have previously worked with Guadagnino in his acclaimed films Call Me By Your Name and Bones and All, respectively.
Pre-production for After The Hunt commenced in July, with Edebiri sharing a snapshot of the cast during a table read on her Instagram, confirming the project’s development.
Edebiri, best known for her breakout role as Sydney Adamu in FX’s The Bear, has also been involved in several upcoming projects. She will star in the horror film Opus, set for release in US theaters this March. The film centers on a young writer who is invited to the secluded estate of a legendary pop star who vanished three decades ago, only to find herself entangled in a sinister plot involving the star’s devoted followers and journalists.
In addition, Edebiri will appear in the forthcoming film Ella McCay, alongside a star-studded cast that includes Emma Mackey of Sex Education, Jamie Lee Curtis, Woody Harrelson, Albert Brooks, Kumail Nanjiani, Spike Fearn, and Slow Horses star Jack Lowden.
After The Hunt is set to hit US theaters on October 17, with the UK release date to be announced at a later time.
