Dimitri Rassam’s Chapter 2, in partnership with Pathé, has released the teaser clip and poster for 13 Days, 13 Nights, an upcoming thriller directed by Martin Bourboulon. The film, set against the backdrop of the chaotic fall of Kabul in 2021 and the Taliban’s takeover of Afghanistan, follows the intense, real-life story of French military operations during the evacuation of Kabul.

This marks Bourboulon’s highly anticipated follow-up to his successful two-part adaptation of The Three Musketeers, which was produced by Chapter 2 and Pathé and enjoyed significant commercial success in France and internationally.

Based on the harrowing account 13 Days, 13 Nights in the Hell of Kabul by Commander Mohamed Bida, the film portrays the commander’s efforts in overseeing the French Embassy’s evacuation, as well as the rescue of local Afghan civilians fleeing the Taliban regime. The screenplay, adapted by Alexandre Smia with Bourboulon co-writing the dialogue, explores the personal and emotional stakes of those caught in the deadly conflict.

13 Days, 13 Nights takes place on August 15, 2021, as U.S. forces prepare to withdraw from Afghanistan, while the Taliban marches toward Kabul. The plot focuses on Commander Mohamed Bida, portrayed by Roschdy Zem, and his team tasked with securing the French Embassy, the last remaining Western mission in the country. Amidst the growing danger, they must navigate the treacherous streets of Kabul and find a way to reach the airport, hoping to escape with 500 people in tow. The film also introduces Lyna Khoudri, Sidse Babett Knudsen, and Christophe Montenez in key roles, with Khoudri playing Eva, a French-Afghan humanitarian aiding the mission.

Bourboulon expressed his deep connection to the project, saying, “As a director, I am drawn to stories that combine epic scope with emotional depth. This true story is a perfect balance of both, giving a gripping portrayal of the fall of Kabul while showcasing the intimate struggles of its heroes.”

Produced by Chapter 2, a Mediawan company, and Pathé, 13 Days, 13 Nights is set for international distribution, with Pathé also handling the film’s French theatrical release.

In addition to the film’s debut, Chapter 2 and Pathé will be in the spotlight at this year’s César Awards, with The Count of Monte Cristo receiving 14 nominations.
