Donnie Wahlberg is returning to television in a brand-new drama series titled Boston Blue, set to air during the 2025-26 broadcast season, CBS announced on Tuesday, February 18. The show will expand on Wahlberg’s beloved role as NYPD officer Danny Reagan from the hit series Blue Bloods, in which he earned a 2017 People’s Choice Award nomination for Favorite TV Crime Drama Actor.
In Boston Blue, Wahlberg will reprise his role as Reagan, who transitions from the NYPD to a new role with the Boston Police Department. Upon arriving in Boston, Reagan is paired with Detective Lena Peters, the eldest daughter of a renowned law enforcement family.
While a premiere date for the series has not yet been set, Boston Blue will be produced by CBS Studios in partnership with JBTV. The show will be led by showrunners and executive producers Brandon Sonnier and Brandon Margolis, alongside executive producers Jerry Bruckheimer, KristieAnne Reed, and Wahlberg.
Wahlberg’s recent projects include a comedic appearance in Dunkin’s Super Bowl commercial, DunKings 2: The Movie, alongside fellow Boston natives Ben Affleck, Casey Affleck, and Jeremy Strong. Additionally, Wahlberg and his New Kids on the Block bandmates announced their first Las Vegas residency, set for June at the Dolby Live at Park MGM.
