Veteran television director and producer Lesli Linka Glatter, known for her work on Homeland and Zero Day, has been appointed to direct the pilot and executive produce Apple TV+’s upcoming limited series Imperfect Women. The show stars Elisabeth Moss and Kerry Washington, who also serve as executive producers.

Adapted from Araminta Hall’s novel of the same name, Imperfect Women is a psychological thriller that explores the aftermath of a devastating crime that fractures the decades-long friendship of three women. Alongside Moss and Washington, Kate Mara will also star in the series.

The show is adapted for television by Physical creator Annie Weisman, who also serves as executive producer and showrunner. Moss and her Love & Squalor Pictures partner Lindsey McManus are executive producing, having initially optioned the book. Washington is also an executive producer under her production company Simpson Street, alongside Pilar Savone. Glatter, Hall, and Kay Oyegun round out the executive producing team. The series will be filmed in Los Angeles, with 20th Television and Apple Studios producing.

Glatter brings extensive experience to the project, having won Directors Guild of America (DGA) Awards for her work on Homeland and Mad Men. Her directorial efforts on both series earned her Emmy nominations. Recently, she directed and executive produced Love & Death for Max, written by David E. Kelley and starring Elizabeth Olsen and Jesse Plemons, as well as the forthcoming Netflix limited series Zero Day, premiering February 20. Zero Day features an ensemble cast that includes Robert De Niro, Angela Bassett, Jesse Plemons, Lizzy Caplan, Connie Britton, Matthew Modine, and Joan Allen.

As President of the Directors Guild of America, Glatter made a powerful address at the recent DGA Awards, reflecting on the impact of recent Los Angeles wildfires, during which she lost her home. She urged her fellow directors to continue bringing production back to the city. “We simply cannot lose Hollywood,” she emphasized, adding, “I start prep on my next project in March, and I’m proud to say it’s shooting in Los Angeles.”

Imperfect Women marks Glatter’s next major project, set to begin filming soon.
