Shepka Productions, in partnership with Flickering Myth, has released its latest gothic horror film, The Baby in the Basket. Set against the grim backdrop of World War II, the film transports viewers to 1944, where the isolated St. Augustine’s convent on a Scottish island becomes the stage for a chilling mystery.
The story begins when a mysterious cloaked figure leaves a baby in a basket on the convent’s doorstep one stormy night, vanishing into the darkness. The nuns, led by the resolute Sister Agnes, reluctantly agree to care for the infant until the weather clears. However, strange and unsettling events soon unfold within the convent’s walls, leading Sister Agnes to suspect that the child is no ordinary infant. As she grapples with the growing fear that an unspeakable evil may have entered their sanctuary, she battles both her sanity and the terrifying truth of the child’s true nature.
The film features a talented cast led by Amber Doig-Thorne, who gained attention for her role in Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey. Joining her are Michaela Longden (How to Kill Monsters), Elle O’Haraa (Cara), Lisa Riesner (No Dogs Allowed), and Nathan Shepka (Dead Before They Wake). The film also features seasoned British actors Annabelle Lanyon (Legend), Maryam D’Aboo (The Living Daylights), and Paul Barber (The Full Monty).
Directed by Nathan Shepka and Andy Crane, with a screenplay penned by Tom Jolliffe (Cinderella’s Revenge, Renegades), The Baby in the Basket is a product of Shepka Productions, Flickering Myth, and Hidden Ridge Productions, in association with Jolliffe Productions and Nerdly UK.
The film is now available for digital streaming and on DVD. Viewers can catch The Baby in the Basket on Apple TV, Prime Video, or HMV.
