Actor Chris Pine is set to headline Nowhere Fast, an upcoming crime thriller written and directed by acclaimed filmmaker Noah Hawley. Known for his work on Fargo and the upcoming Alien: Earth series, Hawley is crafting a tense narrative centered around a small-town criminal who accidentally kills his boss’s nephew.
The film’s brief logline teases an intense storyline that will delve into the complexities of crime and consequence, though additional casting details and a release date remain unannounced.
Pine, a familiar face in the crime thriller genre, has experience in similar roles, particularly from his starring turn in 2016’s Hell or High Water. The film, which earned critical praise and garnered four Academy Award nominations, saw Pine alongside Jeff Bridges in a gritty portrayal of crime in rural Texas. Most recently, Pine directed and starred in 2023’s Poolman, further expanding his portfolio in Hollywood.
Noah Hawley’s reputation for creating gripping narratives is well-established. Beyond Fargo, he also helmed the cult hit Legion for FX, as well as the 2019 film Lucy in the Sky. Hawley’s early career includes writing for the popular police procedural Bones.
Nowhere Fast will be financed and co-represented by 30West and CAA Media Finance. Hawley’s 26 Keys Production will produce the project.
