“Daredevil: Born Again” Gets Glowing Early Reviews

by Barbara

The first two episodes of Daredevil: Born Again have been previewed for select members of the press, and early reactions are overwhelmingly positive.

It praised the series on X, calling it “the best pilot of any MCU series thus far,” noting the intense, edge-of-your-seat energy and moments of genuine surprise. Crowley further commended the return of Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio, who reprise their iconic roles as Matt Murdock and Wilson Fisk, respectively. He also highlighted the direction of directors Benson and Moorhead, describing the series as “episodic” and hinting at a potential return to the show’s roots.

Cinema Blend’s managing editor, Sean O’Connell, echoed Crowley’s enthusiasm. O’Connell shared that Born Again opens with a “lengthy, devastating sequence” that promises a dark and brutal tone, reminiscent of the original Daredevil series on Netflix. He also noted the show’s exploration of complex themes, including cops, vigilantes, and guilt, calling it a “refresh” for fans of the comic arc Devil’s Reign.

Erik Davis, managing director of Fandango, further lauded the first two episodes as one of the “strongest starts for a Marvel Studios TV show to date.” Davis was particularly impressed by a standout fight scene in episode one, which is done in a single shot, ending with a dramatic twist. He described the series’ mix of court procedural and action-packed brawls as “terrific,” setting the stage for what promises to be an exciting season.

Daredevil: Born Again marks the return of Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock, the blind lawyer-turned-vigilante, a role he first brought to life in Netflix’s Daredevil in 2015. Cox has previously reprised the role in Marvel’s She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, Echo, and Spider-Man: No Way Home. Alongside Cox, fans can expect the return of Deborah Ann Woll, Elden Henson, Ayelet Zurer, Wilson Bethel, Vincent D’Onofrio, and Jon Bernthal, among others. New cast additions include Michael Gandolfini, Margarita Levieva, and Jeremy Earl.

The official logline for Born Again teases an intense showdown between Murdock, who fights for justice through his law firm, and Fisk, who seeks to expand his political power in New York. As their pasts resurface, the two characters are on a collision course, one that will certainly keep viewers on the edge of their seats.

The highly anticipated series will make its debut on Disney+ on March 4.
