A new Thai horror film, Death Dial, is set to take on the global issue of scam and spam calls, bringing a chilling, supernatural twist to this modern nuisance. The first-look image for the film has just been revealed, offering a glimpse of the terror that awaits.
Starring Sanya Kunakorn (How To Make Millions Before Grandma Dies) and Penpak Sirikul (Home for Rent), Death Dial is produced by Night Edge Pictures and will be showcased at the European Film Market.
Drawing inspiration from real-life call center scams that target vulnerable individuals, Death Dial follows the story of Chaba (played by Sirikul), an older woman with the ability to communicate with the spirit world. After a scam call ensnares her brother and niece, Chaba embarks on a supernatural quest for vengeance against the criminal organization responsible.
Hans Audric Estialbo, CEO of Night Edge Pictures, emphasized the film’s unique blend of horror and relatable social commentary. “Death Dial is a powerful horror film that also tells a story we can all connect with,” he said. “It’s an ongoing crisis, especially in Asia, and Chaba is a character that everyone will root for.” The film promises to intertwine real-world issues of modern-day fraud with the eerie thrill of supernatural retribution.
Directed by Napas Taleangcapun, Death Dial is expected to hit theaters in 2026, promising a compelling and spine-tingling experience for fans of horror and revenge films alike.
