The Rule of Jenny Pen, a gripping psychological thriller, is set to hit theaters on March 7, 2025, bringing together two Academy Award nominees—John Lithgow and Geoffrey Rush—in a chilling battle of wits.
Lithgow, known for his roles in Pet Sematary and Dexter, portrays Dave Crealy, a sadistic resident of a retirement home who wields a disturbing puppet in his cruel torment of the other residents. The latest trailer unveils the unnerving menace of Lithgow’s character, whose seemingly innocent demeanor masks a twisted and dangerous mind.
Opposite him, Geoffrey Rush, an Oscar-winning actor renowned for his work in the Pirates of the Caribbean series, plays Judge Stefan Mortensen. After suffering a debilitating stroke, Mortensen is left partially paralyzed and confined to the same retirement facility. Initially resistant to the home’s staff and isolated from his fellow residents, Mortensen soon finds himself at odds with Crealy. The film follows Mortensen’s desperate attempts to stop Crealy’s sadistic “game” called The Rule of Jenny Pen, a cruel exercise that grows increasingly violent and disturbing as the story unfolds.
Directed by James Ashcroft, who also co-wrote the screenplay with Eli Kent, The Rule of Jenny Pen is the duo’s follow-up to the brutal New Zealand thriller Coming Home in the Dark. The film promises to deliver an intense, sobering experience, with Ashcroft’s signature dark tone front and center.
The eerie trailer and poster, which feature the ominous puppet Jenny Pen, perfectly capture the twisted nature of Crealy’s torment. With a storyline that delves into psychological horror and escalating tension, viewers can expect a chilling cinematic experience when the film arrives in theaters.
Produced by Catherine Fitzgerald and Orlando Stewart, The Rule of Jenny Pen is executive produced by James Ashcroft, Eli Kent, John Lithgow, Geoffrey Rush, Emily Gotto, Nicholas Lazo, and Samuel Zimmerman. Fans of psychological thrillers and powerhouse performances should not miss this compelling showdown between two acting legends.
