South Korean director Yeon Sang-ho, famed for his work on Train to Busan, returns to the horror genre with a gripping new thriller for Netflix. Titled Revelations, the series is set to premiere on March 21, with the streaming platform releasing an official teaser trailer.
Revelations plunges viewers into a world of psychological chaos and religious fervor. The story centers on a pastor who believes he is divinely tasked with punishing the individual responsible for a missing person’s case. Meanwhile, a detective investigating the case struggles with the haunting presence of her deceased sister’s ghost.
The film stars Ryu Jun-yeol and Shin Hyeon-bin, who lead the intense, suspense-driven narrative. Yeon Sang-ho, alongside co-writer Choi Kyu-seok, adapted the script from their 2022 comic book of the same name. The duo previously collaborated on the acclaimed Netflix series Hellbound, which garnered significant attention for its dark, supernatural storytelling.
Revelations also boasts notable executive production by Academy Award-winning filmmaker Alfonso Cuarón, known for his acclaimed works Roma and Gravity. Yeon expressed his excitement about the collaboration, citing Cuarón’s influence on his career. “Alfonso Cuarón, known for masterpieces like Children of Men and Gravity, has greatly influenced my work as a director,” Yeon commented. “I am thrilled at this opportunity to collaborate with him on shaping Revelations, and I have high expectations for our partnership.”
With an intriguing premise and a team of seasoned filmmakers behind it, Revelations promises to be a must-watch for horror and thriller enthusiasts. Fans can look forward to the full series starting March 21.
