Universal and Blumhouse have released the second official trailer for The Woman in the Yard, offering a deeper look into the supernatural terror haunting a grieving family. The horror thriller, directed by Jaume Collet-Serra (Orphan, The Shallows), is set to hit theaters on March 28, 2025.
The eerie trailer introduces a mysterious entity draped in a black shroud, using shadows as a sinister force to torment its victims. It also teases a wish gone terribly wrong.
Danielle Deadwyler (Till, The Harder They Fall) stars as Ramona, a woman struggling to cope after surviving a car accident that claimed the life of her husband, played by Russell Hornsby (BMF, Fences). Left seriously injured, she now faces the daunting task of raising their two children—a 14-year-old son (Peyton Jackson, Respect) and a 6-year-old daughter (Estella Kahiha, Will Trent)—alone in their remote farmhouse.
Their world takes a terrifying turn when a mysterious woman, played by Okwui Okpokwasili (The Exorcist: Believer), appears in their yard. Initially dismissed as lost or mentally unstable, it soon becomes clear that this figure is anything but ordinary—and her presence is anything but benign. As the woman edges closer, Ramona must fight to protect her family from an unknown and relentless menace.
The screenplay is penned by first-time feature writer Sam Stefanak. The film also marks a reunion between Collet-Serra and Deadwyler, who previously worked together on the action thriller Carry On.
Deadwyler also serves as an executive producer alongside Collet-Serra, Gabrielle Ebron, Scott Greenberg, and James Mora, with Jason Blum and Stephanie Allain producing.
