Netflix has released the highly anticipated official trailer for its upcoming medical drama Pulse, featuring stars Willa Fitzgerald and Colin Woodell. The trailer showcases the intense and complex relationship between Fitzgerald’s character, Dr. Danny Simms, and Woodell’s Dr. Xander Phillips, which ultimately leads to Xander’s suspension from his role as Chief Resident at Miami’s busiest Level 1 trauma center.
Set to premiere on April 3, Pulse marks Netflix’s first English-language medical procedural. The series promises to offer a compelling blend of high-stakes medical cases and emotional drama, drawing comparisons to iconic shows like Grey’s Anatomy.
In a dramatic turn of events, Pulse follows Dr. Danny Simms, a third-year resident played by Fitzgerald, who is unexpectedly thrust into a leadership role after the suspension of Dr. Xander Phillips, portrayed by Woodell. With a hurricane threatening Miami, the trauma center is overwhelmed with patients, and tensions run high as the hospital locks down. As Simms and Phillips are forced to collaborate under extreme pressure, the shocking details of their personal relationship begin to unravel, affecting not only their professional duties but also the dynamics within the emergency room team. The staff must navigate their own personal struggles while dealing with the life-or-death situations that arise daily.
The series, created by Zoe Robyn and executive produced by Carlton Cuse (known for Lost), follows a traditional network-style format with a network-caliber budget. Pulse is the fourth major medical drama to debut in recent months, joining the ranks of The Pitt (Max), Doc (Fox), and Watson (CBS).
The cast also features Justina Machado, Jack Bannon, Jessie T. Usher, Jessy Yates, Chelsea Muirhead, and Daniela Nieves, with Néstor Carbonell, Jessica Rothe, Santiago Segura, Ash Santos, and Arturo Del Puerto rounding out the extended cast.
Produced by Robyn and Cuse, Pulse is set to bring an intense mix of medical procedures and emotional drama to Netflix audiences when it premieres this spring.
