Rumpelstiltskin is back, and this time, he’s bringing a terrifying new update to the classic fairy tale. Directed by Andy Edwards (known for Zombie Spring Breakers and Midnight Peepshow), this fresh take on the age-old story will have horror fans on edge. Bloody Disgusting has the exclusive reveal of the official trailer, and it’s not to be missed.
The film is set to hit U.S. VOD on April 8, and will be available on Digital in the UK starting April 7.
Starring Hannah Baxter-Eve (Aguska, Escape), Joss Carter (Don’t Hug Me I’m Scared, Tarot), and Adrian Bouchet (The Wheel of Time, The Last Kingdom), Rumpelstiltskin promises a thrilling ride. According to Miracle Media, the film “breathes new life into the age-old children’s story,” featuring eye-popping special effects, a foul-mouthed female protagonist who defies the typical damsel in distress role, and a mix of bawdy humor and devilish visuals that will leave a lasting impact on viewers.
In this reimagined tale, a greedy miller (Mark Cook) makes a rash promise to marry off his daughter, Evaline (Hannah Baxter-Eve), to the King (Colin Malone). However, when the miller’s lies are uncovered, Evaline and her father are faced with the threat of being locked in a tower forever. To escape, Evaline is forced to promise the King that she can spin straw into gold — an impossible task.
That’s when a mysterious masked creature (Joss Carter) appears, offering help, but with a sinister cost. As the King becomes increasingly consumed by greed, Evaline is left to strike a desperate bargain with the imp: her firstborn child in exchange for more gold. But the stakes skyrocket when the Devil enters the fray, leading to chaos and terror as the deal spirals out of control.
Fans of the 1995 horror adaptation of the classic German fairy tale will find echoes of that version in this new film. And for those who missed it, the 1995 release is available for purchase on Blu-ray from Terror Vision.
Get ready for a fresh, frightful spin on a timeless tale — Rumpelstiltskin is sure to leave you with more than just nightmares.
