Netflix and director Greta Gerwig are setting their sights high for the upcoming Chronicles of Narnia movie, with sources confirming that Daniel Craig has received an offer to join the cast. While it is still early in the casting process, insiders have revealed that the actor has been extended the offer, though it remains unclear whether he will ultimately sign on. The specific role Craig would portray in the film has not yet been disclosed.
Despite the early stage of production, Netflix and Gerwig are moving forward with confidence, preparing for the film’s scheduled production later this year. In addition, reports suggest that Charli XCX is in talks to take on the role of the White Witch, marking another significant step in the development of the highly anticipated project.
Netflix announced in 2018 that it would be developing a new series and films based on C.S. Lewis’ iconic Chronicles of Narnia series. Greta Gerwig was brought on board in 2020 to direct and adapt the first film. While details are still scarce, the project is beginning to take shape, with production plans underway.
The movie is set to receive a major push with an exclusive two-week IMAX global run during Thanksgiving 2026, ahead of its release on Netflix. If Craig joins the cast, it would mark a reunion of sorts between the actor and the streaming giant. Craig’s role as the brilliant detective Benoit Blanc in Rian Johnson’s Knives Out franchise, which has a deal with Netflix, has already seen him in two successful films. The first, Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery, was released in 2022, with the next installment, Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery, slated for release later this year.
