Universal Pictures has confirmed that Maika Monroe will star in the upcoming film adaptation of Colleen Hoover’s bestselling novel Reminders of Him. The actress, best known for her role in The Longlegs, will portray Kenna Rowan, a young mother recently released from prison, who is determined to reconnect with her 4-year-old daughter. The film, first announced in October, is set to hit theaters on February 13, 2026.
In addition to Monroe’s casting, further details about the project have emerged. Vanessa Caswill will direct the adaptation, with Colleen Hoover and Lauren Levine co-writing the screenplay. Both Hoover and Levine will also produce the film through their production company, Heartbones Entertainment, in collaboration with Gina Matthews, who is producing through Little Engine Productions. Robin Fisichella will serve as executive producer.
While representatives for both Colleen Hoover and Maika Monroe have yet to comment, the author has been busy overseeing several film adaptations of her works. This includes the upcoming Regretting You film, set to premiere in October 2025, which is currently rounding out its cast. Additionally, a film version of Hoover’s 2018 thriller Verity, directed by Michael Showalter, has already begun filming. The movie, which stars Anne Hathaway, Dakota Johnson, and Josh Hartnett, is slated for release in 2026. Hoover recently shared her excitement about Verity during an appearance on Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen, saying, “I just read the script, and I’m super excited about it.”
As Reminders of Him joins a growing list of Colleen Hoover adaptations, fans can look forward to even more of her novels coming to the big screen in the near future.
