Gwyneth Paltrow is set to return to the big screen alongside Timothée Chalamet in the upcoming Josh Safdie-directed film, Marty Supreme. The Academy Award-winning actress, known for her role as CEO of Goop, recently discussed her role in the film, which centers on the world of competitive ping-pong.
In an interview, Paltrow revealed that her character is married to someone involved in the so-called “Ping-Pong mafia.” The film follows her character’s complicated relationship with Chalamet’s character, Marty. “She’s had a tough life, and I think he breathes life back into her, but it’s kind of transactional for them both,” Paltrow explained.
Having worked alongside Chalamet, Paltrow praised his professionalism, describing him as “polite, properly raised” and noting that he is a serious actor who also makes for an enjoyable collaborator.
In October, the duo was spotted on set in New York City, where paparazzi captured a passionate kiss between the two actors. Paltrow joked about the film’s intimacy, saying, “I mean, we have a lot of sex in this movie. There’s a lot— a lot.”
The actress also shared her experience working with an intimacy coordinator on set. “There’s now something called an intimacy coordinator, which I did not know existed,” she remarked. While she acknowledged the role’s importance for newer actors, Paltrow confessed that she and Chalamet felt comfortable enough to handle their scenes without much assistance. “I’m from the era where you get naked, you get in bed, the camera’s on,” she said, adding that they ultimately decided they didn’t need the coordinator to intervene too much.
“Marty Supreme” is set to release on Christmas Day, promising audiences an intriguing blend of drama and romance.
