In the trailer, Wilson steps away from her comedic roots, donning a striking low-cut red dress as she portrays a secret agent who finds herself in an unexpected role as Maid of Honour at her best friend’s wedding. The plot takes a wild turn when a group of ruthless mercenaries crash the wedding, taking guests hostage. Wilson’s character springs into action, using martial arts and improvised weapons to battle a group of assassins. One memorable scene even shows her fighting a villain with a cake in a commercial kitchen, while another features a tense brawl with gunmen at the wedding.
This shift from comedy to action marks a bold career evolution for Wilson, whose previous work includes hits like Pitch Perfect and Isn’t It Romantic. In Bride Hard, she embraces a more physical role, with action-packed scenes that display her versatility as an actress.
The film is directed by Simon West, known for Con Air, and also stars Wilson’s Pitch Perfect 3 co-star, Anna Camp. Wilson teased the film’s release with an enthusiastic post, saying, “I’ve got a lot of FIGHT in me! BRIDE HARD. Save the date! June 20th.”
