Pixar is set to launch its latest animated film, Elio, an exciting intergalactic adventure, with a stellar voice cast that includes Yonas Kibreab, Jameela Jamil, Brad Garrett, Zoe Saldaña, Remy Edgerly, and Shirley Henderson.
The upcoming film tells the story of Elio, an 11-year-old boy, voiced by Kibreab, who is mistakenly believed to be the ruler of Earth. His life takes a wild turn when he is beamed up into space to join an interplanetary council made up of representatives from various galaxies. The official trailer introduces Elio as he quips, “I’m trying to get abducted — by aliens. I’m supposed to be up there,” setting the stage for a fun-filled cosmic journey.
As Elio embarks on his unexpected adventure, he quickly forms connections with eccentric alien beings while discovering his true purpose in the universe. Kibreab, in a previous interview with the YouTube show Kids First, shared that viewers can expect to experience a range of emotions. “They’re gonna feel all different kinds of emotions. They’re gonna be laughing, they’re gonna maybe tear up — I don’t know — and they’re also just gonna be super happy because the movie is just generally a very funny and exciting movie,” he said.
Elio is slated to hit theaters on June 20, 2025, promising an entertaining and heartwarming experience for audiences of all ages.
