Steven Soderbergh’s Presence to Hit Indian Theatres on April 4

by Barbara

Steven Soderbergh’s highly anticipated supernatural thriller Presence is set to hit Indian theatres on April 4. The film, starring Lucy Liu, Chris Sullivan, and Callina Liang, will be distributed in India by PVR INOX Pictures.

Presence tells the gripping story of a family who begins to suspect they are not alone after moving into a new home in the suburbs. The eerie presence within the house begins to reveal itself even before the family settles in, watching their most intimate and uncomfortable moments. The supernatural force moves through the house with unsettling speed and seems particularly fixated on Chloe, the teenage daughter, who struggles to find her place within the family dynamic.

According to the official synopsis, “It wants — no, it needs — something. And as time goes on, the presence pieces together how it might accomplish its goal.”

Soderbergh, reflecting on the inspiration behind the film, shared a chilling personal anecdote: “Presence grew out of something that happened in the house I own with Jules [Asner, Soderbergh’s wife] in Los Angeles. It is a true fact that somebody died in this house before we moved in.”

The screenplay for Presence was penned by David Koepp, and the film made its world premiere at the Sundance Film Festival last year. It was released in US theatres earlier this year in January.
