Jack Reynor has been cast in The Mummy, directed by Lee Cronin, marking the latest collaboration between Atomic Monster and Blumhouse for New Line Cinema. Filming is set to take place across locations in Ireland and Spain, with Cronin’s production banner, Doppelgängers, also contributing to the project. Sources indicate that Reynor will not be taking on the title role.
The plot of The Mummy remains under wraps, though it is known that Cronin, who wrote and directed the film, is helming the project for the recently merged companies, led by James Wan and Jason Blum, in partnership with Warner Bros. Motion Picture Group. The film is slated for release on April 17, 2026.
Reynor, an award-winning Irish-American actor, has gained recognition for his recent role in Netflix’s The Perfect Couple (2024). He is no stranger to notable films, having appeared in Ari Aster’s Midsommar, the Russo Brothers’ Cherry, and Lenny Abrahamson’s What Richard Did, for which he earned the IFTA Award for Best Actor. Reynor’s other acclaimed roles include Sing Street (also directed by John Carney), Free Fire, and Detroit by Kathryn Bigelow. His performance in Gerard Barrett’s Glassland earned him the Sundance Film Festival’s Dramatic Special Jury Award for Acting in 2015.
In addition to his film credits, Reynor will appear in the upcoming second season of Prime Video’s Citadel and is set to reunite with John Carney for the musical comedy Power Ballad. He also wrote and directed the short film Bainne, which won the Best First Short Drama Award at the Galway Film Festival. Reynor’s television credits include starring roles in On the Basis of Sex and the CBS All Access series Strange Angel. He is best known to global audiences for his role in Michael Bay’s Transformers: Age of Extinction, which grossed over $1 billion worldwide. Reynor is represented by WME, Range Media Partners, and Sloane Offer.
Cronin, who first garnered attention with his 2019 debut feature The Hole in the Ground, continues to build his career with The Mummy. His most recent project, Evil Dead Rise, was a commercial success, grossing $147 million globally after a theatrical release in April 2023. Initially planned for a direct-to-streaming release on Max, the film’s captivating trailer at CineEurope prompted Warner Bros. to shift the film to a theatrical run, where it thrived at the box office.
The Mummy is co-financed by Atomic Monster and Blumhouse, with Wan, Blum, and John Keville producing the film. Michael Clear and Judson Scott are serving as executive producers, with Alayna Glasthal overseeing the project for Atomic Monster.
