British actor-comedian Nick Frost is reportedly on the verge of finalizing a deal to portray the beloved Rubeus Hagrid in HBO’s highly anticipated Harry Potter television adaptation.
Known for his roles in Edgar Wright’s Cornetto trilogy, including Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz, Frost would step into the iconic role once held by the late Robbie Coltrane, who brought the half-giant to life across all eight films in the original Warner Bros. franchise.
Frost recently sparked speculation on Instagram, posting a cryptic message that read: “What a bloody lovely day! It’s happening, it’s actually happening. Stay cool.”
Despite the buzz, HBO has yet to confirm the casting. In a statement, a spokesperson for the network said, “We appreciate that such a high-profile series will draw a lot of rumor and speculation. As we make our way through pre-production, we will only confirm details as we finalize deals.”
