Rami Malek steps into the shoes of CIA agent Charles Heller in his latest film, The Amateur, a high-stakes thriller where personal tragedy propels Heller into a relentless pursuit of justice. After his wife’s tragic death, Heller takes matters into his own hands, risking everything in an attempt to avenge her.
In a recent interview, Malek reflected on his excitement about joining the action genre, a dream he’s long harbored. “I’ve always aspired to be a part of action films and never thought it was possible. So, to put myself in a position where I could pull it off, as an amateur, I think it’s very relatable. We all have the potential to be heroic in our own way,” he shared.
Laurence Fishburne, who stars as Henderson, praised Malek’s performance, highlighting the depth and complexity he brings to the role. “Rami, being such a gifted actor, brings a whole new level of nuance that I don’t think we’ve seen before,” Fishburne remarked.
Rachel Brosnahan, who plays Sarah, Heller’s wife, elaborated on the film’s emotional core. “This story revolves around a man who loses his wife in a horrible way. That loss drives him on a journey of vengeance,” she explained.
The Amateur will hit theaters on April 11, giving audiences the chance to witness Malek in this intense, action-packed role.
