Production on The Running Man, the highly anticipated dystopian thriller directed by Edgar Wright, has officially concluded. Wright, known for his work on Shaun of the Dead and Scott Pilgrim vs. the World, shared the news on Instagram, expressing his gratitude for the cast and crew’s hard work. “That’s a picture wrap on The Running Man. All my love and appreciation goes out to our incredible cast and crew, who have worked tirelessly on it,” Wright wrote. “Can’t wait for you to see what we’ve been shooting… Much more coming soon!”
Based on Stephen King’s 1982 novel, the film will hit theaters on November 7, distributed by Paramount Pictures. The plot centers on Ben Richards, played by Glen Powell, a desperate man who joins a deadly reality show in which contestants, known as “hunters,” must track him down to earn a large sum of money that he needs to save his critically ill daughter.
The impressive cast includes Katy O’Brian, Daniel Ezra, Karl Glusman, Josh Brolin, Lee Pace, Jayme Lawson, Michael Cera, Emilia Jones, William H. Macy, David Zayas, Sean Hayes, and Colman Domingo.
Wright co-wrote the screenplay with Michael Bacall, whose previous credits include Scott Pilgrim vs. the World and 21 Jump Street. Cinematographer Chung-hoon Chung, renowned for his work on Oldboy, It, and Last Night in Soho, brings his visual expertise to the film.
The Running Man was previously adapted into a 1987 movie starring Arnold Schwarzenegger, but Wright’s version promises to bring a fresh, modern take on the classic story.
