Belly’s Journey in ‘The Summer I Turned Pretty’ Finale

by Barbara

The highly anticipated third and final season of The Summer I Turned Pretty is set to premiere in July, promising to bring closure to the captivating love story that has kept fans hooked for years. After a two-year hiatus following season 2, the upcoming season picks up with Belly (Lola Tung) still in a relationship with Jeremiah (Gavin Casalegno), following her decision to choose him over Conrad (Christopher Briney) at the end of season 2.

Season 3 begins with a time jump to the end of Belly’s freshman year of college, aligning with the events of the third book, We’ll Always Have Summer. Author and showrunner Jenny Han, known for her bestselling trilogy, teased that this final season will include plenty of surprises for viewers.

Tung, who portrays Belly, echoed Han’s sentiment, explaining that the decisions made for the show always serve the narrative. “Every season, every decision about what’s coming next, is purely to serve the story,” she said. “It’s all about this beautiful world Jenny Han has created, and we’re grateful to bring that to life for fans.”

While many details remain under wraps, Han confirmed that fans will witness several heartwarming moments between Belly and Jeremiah in season 3. “Lola and Gavin have such great chemistry,” Han said. “They’ve really found a rhythm together, especially with the time jump. It’s going to be joyful for people to watch their bond deepen.”

As for Conrad, the older Fisher brother who has been away at Stanford, Han noted that his return will bring new dynamics as he reconnects with those he’s distanced himself from. “He’s rediscovering everyone and seeing how they’ve changed,” Han said, hinting that Conrad’s character will have a significant role in the final season.

For fans of the “Jellyfish” couple—Belly and Jeremiah—Tung promised an exciting journey ahead. “Their relationship is so special, so unique,” Tung said. “It’s exciting to see how it continues to blossom this season.”

With The Summer I Turned Pretty season 3 arriving in July, the series will surely deliver the emotional depth and surprises fans have come to expect. Meanwhile, seasons 1 and 2 are available for streaming in full on Prime Video.
