At Sony Pictures’ CinemaCon presentation on Monday, director Sam Mendes revealed exciting new details about his ambitious project, The Beatles: A Four-Film Cinematic Event. The highly anticipated series, which explores the lives of the legendary British band, will be released in theaters in April 2028.

Mendes officially announced the cast for the project, with Harris Dickinson (known for Babygirl) taking on the role of John Lennon, Paul Mescal (Gladiator II) portraying Paul McCartney, Barry Keoghan (The Batman) as Ringo Starr, and Joseph Quinn (The Fantastic Four: First Steps) cast as George Harrison.

While Mendes remained tight-lipped about the exact release dates or the order in which each film will be launched, he emphasized that each movie will offer a unique perspective on the Fab Four’s journey. The films will be interconnected, with each one focusing on a different Beatle, but all will intersect to tell the band’s collective story. Mendes hinted at the importance of seeing all four films in close succession to fully grasp the overarching narrative.

“We need big cinematic events to get people out of the house,” Mendes stated, underscoring the significance of the project as a major cultural event. Alongside Mendes, Pippa Harris, Julie Pastor, and Alexandra Derbyshire will serve as producers.
