Peter Parker swings back into action with a fresh start in the upcoming fourth installment of the Spider-Man franchise.
At CinemaCon in Las Vegas, director Destin Daniel Cretton confirmed that the highly anticipated fourth Spider-Man movie, titled Spider-Man: Brand New Day, will begin filming this summer. While Tom Holland, who stars as the iconic web-slinger, was absent from the event, he made a special appearance via video to share his excitement for the project.
“I am so sorry I can’t be with you. I am halfway around the world shooting a movie,” Holland said, referencing his upcoming role in Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey, which also stars Matt Damon, Zendaya, and Anne Hathaway. “I know we left you with a massive cliffhanger at the end of No Way Home, so Spider-Man: Brand New Day is a fresh start. It is exactly that. That’s all I can say.”
Holland’s brief, yet significant statement provided fans with a glimpse into the new direction for Spider-Man, although he refrained from revealing further details. Known for unintentionally spilling spoilers, Holland kept his promise not to give away any plot points, joking, “That’s all I’ve been allowed to say. And I’m well over the hump of giving away spoilers, so don’t be worried. I’m not going to do that today.”
The movie will follow the events of Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021), where Peter Parker’s decision to erase his identity from the world after breaking open the multiverse left fans eagerly awaiting the next chapter. Plot details for Brand New Day, which is set to hit theaters on July 31, 2026, remain under wraps, though Cretton hinted at exciting developments in the works.
“I’m spending my time exploring the next stage of this amazing character with a team of the most incredible artists in the world,” Cretton said. “We’re all, just daily, nerding out over the suit, how to swing, how to create an event, an emotional story, and a ride that we haven’t really seen before.”
While no official cast confirmations have been made, Zendaya and Jacob Batalon are expected to reprise their roles as MJ and Ned, Peter’s closest friends. Newcomer Sadie Sink has also been cast, although her role remains a mystery. Rumors suggest she could play Jean Grey, the iconic X-Men mutant, a character previously portrayed by Famke Janssen and Sophie Turner.
Cretton remained tight-lipped about the rest of the cast, but he did express immense pride in his team’s work. “I really wish I could introduce you to our entire team who are working their bloods off for this,” he said. “They are incredible, and you will see their amazing work when Spider-Man: Brand New Day hits your theaters.”
With a legacy of box office success, the Spider-Man franchise has been a major draw for theaters worldwide. Holland’s previous films—Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017), Spider-Man: Far From Home (2019), and Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021)—have collectively grossed over $3.9 billion globally. The latter, No Way Home, became the first blockbuster to gross $1.9 billion post-pandemic, further cementing the character’s popularity.
Before wrapping up, Holland took a moment to express his gratitude toward the theater owners. “I would never pass up the opportunity,” he said, “to say a massive ‘thank you’ for all of your support for all of our Spider-Man movies.”
Fans can look forward to Spider-Man: Brand New Day as the next thrilling chapter in the web-slinger’s cinematic journey.
