The much-anticipated action-horror-sci-fi movie Primitive War has released its teaser trailer, sparking excitement among fans. Set against the backdrop of the Vietnam War, Primitive War takes a unique approach by pitting soldiers against prehistoric dinosaurs in a battle for survival.
Debuted by The Hollywood Reporter, the trailer promises intense action and suspense, with the tagline, “This ain’t no walk in the park,” providing a cheeky jab at the Jurassic Park franchise. This high-concept premise reminds viewers of films like 2023’s 65, in which Adam Driver faced off against dinosaurs. However, Primitive War appears to have the resources to deliver thrilling dinosaur action, sparking hope for an engaging viewing experience.
The film, directed by Luke Sparke, is based on the 2017 sci-fi military novel by Ethan Pettus. It’s set in Vietnam in 1968, following a search-and-rescue team called Vulture Squad sent to a remote jungle valley. Their mission: to locate a missing Green Beret platoon. However, the squad stumbles upon a terrifying revelation—dinosaurs have been unleashed. As the men battle these ancient creatures, they must shed their humanity to survive.
Sparke, known for his work on Occupation: Rainfall and Bring Him to Me, helms the film alongside a talented cast that includes Jeremy Piven (Entourage), Tricia Helfer (Battlestar Galactica, Lucifer), Ryan Kwanten (True Blood), and Nick Wechsler (The Boys). Also starring are Anthony Ingruber (Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny), Aaron Glenane (Interceptor), and Carlos Sanson Jr. (Legacies).
The film is expected to deliver an action-packed, heart-pounding experience, as the soldiers face off against the most formidable predators ever to walk the earth. Primitive War is slated for release in Summer 2025, offering a fresh and thrilling take on both the war and dinosaur genres.
